National Paralegal College is an accredited online institution offering Associate’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and post-Bachelor’s certificates. Its mission is to provide quality web-based instruction for individuals pursuing a paralegal certification.
The school uses a method called online synchronous learning, which means that classes are conducted online in real-time using audio and visual support, and students can interact with the instructor. Courses in the program last 8 weeks and each course includes 15 synchronous online lectures. All classes are always recorded for students who are unable to attend.
The National Paralegal College offers a great deal of Personalized Attention
The National Paralegal College states that its goals for students include giving them a great deal of personalized attention from instructors, to use problem-based learning to allow students to practice applying legal skills to realistic hypothetical situations, to show students the most effective ways to conduct legal research, to help students understand all the ethical aspects of the legal profession, to expose students to a wide variety of specialties within the legal profession, and to provide comprehensive placement assistance.
Academic Programs tend to fall into three possible categories: a certificate that takes 7 months, an Associate’s degree that takes 15 months, or a Bachelor’s degree that takes 3 years. The faculty is comprised largely of attorneys, computer specialists and other professionals who have worked in the legal setting.
One of the tools used most in the coursework is the LexisNexis system – a legal research tool that is used by many law firms. Students use it for coursework and in doing so, acquire a workplace readiness skill.
According to NPC, students graduating from their programs have the same passing rate on the certification exams as students from regular schools and colleges.
National Paralegal College is not able to use Pell Grants
NPC is not able to use Pell Grants for financial aid because it is not involved with the Title IV program. Instead they have a variety of loans and long-term payment plans. The National Paralegal College is a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and has accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council.
